CBD Dosage Guide
How to Take CBD
So you’ve made the decision to invest in your health. Congrats! But now that you’re home with your first bottle of CBD oil… how do you take it?
We recommend taking our oil sublingually, or under your tongue. This allows the oil to diffuse into the blood through tissues under the tongue. This is the quickest and most efficient way to absorb CBD. I know, I know... but what about all the cool pictures of people dropping it into their coffee? While adding CBD to drinks or sauces can be a fun way to spice up a meal, the truth is, absorption decreases as CBD passes through your digestive tract and liver. This is why we don’t offer capsules or gummies. We want you to get the very most out of our CBD. To do that, place desired dose under your tongue for 60 seconds and then swallow. Easy peasy.
Start Low and Go Slow
Our next bit of advice is to start low and go slow. Taking 1-5 drops the first few days is a great way to introduce CBD into your system. While complications are rare, the safe bet is to start slow (sort of like dating someone before you marry them). It’s also a good idea to discuss your choice to start taking CBD with your doctor.
Once you start, pay close attention to the symptoms you are most concerned with, such as insomnia or joint pain. Slowly titrate, or increase your dose, every few days. Once additional relief is not seen or you feel worse, return to previous dose. This means you have found your optimal dose. Yay!
The optimal dose will vary for each individual. It can also change over time. Many people find they can lower their dose after a few months of consistent use. This is why it’s important to pay close attention to your body and mind when you start taking CBD. Keeping a journal can help.
CBD works in a triphasic way. This means people experience different things at low, medium, and high doses. This also means that what works for your friend or partner may not work for you. Try splitting your dose, or adding a second dose to your morning or nightly routine. Sometimes this works better than taking one large dose. However, if your goal is to sleep better, a single dose 1-2 hours before bed may work best. The bottom line is, there’s no one right way to take CBD. Just remember to take it slow and be consistent as you experiment with your dose. Try making adjustments in one week increments so you can track changes.
Dosing Information Card
The good news is, if you order from us, your product will ship with a Dosing Information card. This card will help you understand how much oil to take, depending on which strength bottle you choose. For example, for a 10mg dose you can take either 40 drops of our 300mg oil or 12 drops of our 1000mg oil. We get it. It’s a little complicated. This is why we’re happy to answer any and all messages regarding how to get the most out of our products. Our owners/pharmacists and staff are always eager to help!
